Müller-thurgau is a well-known German grape variety that usually makes rather neutral-tasting, undistinguished wine in Germany. Mistakenly thought until recently to be a cross between riesling and silvaner (sylvaner), it has been proven by DNA typing to be the progeny of riesling and madeleine royale.
