I don’t know how many wineries in California make a small amount of exquisite extra virgin olive oil, but I bet it’s a significant number. Olive trees love the same kind of sunny dry “infertile” terroir that grapevines do. It’s a natural to plant them side by side as is done in so many parts of the Mediterranean. So what’s the best EVOO in California? My vote is HUDSON Olio Nuovo. It’s vivid, fresh, peppery, saline, and so complex you could genuflect. It’s also made by some of the best grape growers and winemakers in the state—Lee and Cristina Hudson. They have a magic touch. This could be a gift to yourself this season or to anyone who loves food! HUDSON Olio Nuovo will be released this week. JOIN their mailing list to buy it.
