Cost per bottle (in US$) for a new Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon aged in white Carrara marble. The Cabernet—Fuori Marmo 2019—is from the Maremma region along the Tuscan coast. The two marble amphorae in which the wine was aged were carved out of a 35-ton block of marble and cost $105,200 each themselves. Aging wine in marble has been attempted before in Italy as well as in Austria, but this is the first time that Cabernet Sauvignon has been attempted. According to the producer, the wine shows “a lot of elegance and extreme freshness.”
