Despite the tiny percentage, the high-altitude province of Mendoza is home to 75% of all the vineyards in that country and 85% of all of Argentine Malbec grows there. At nearly 58,000 square miles, Mendoza, which borders the Andes Mountains, is significantly bigger than New York State. Two-thirds of all Argentine wineries are located in Mendoza.
