Number of millions of acres in the western U.S. that wildfires burned last year. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 84% of the West is currently in a drought exacerbating the likelihood of hotter, more devastating fires that will arrive earlier this year. The drought across 73% of California land is now rated as “severe” or “extreme.”
