Number of plant species that Sonoma’s Jordan Vineyards has begun planting on its estate in collaboration with Pollinator Partnership to save endangered native bees and Western Monarch butterflies. This past winter, only 1,914 monarchs were recorded overwintering on the California coast — the lowest number ever recorded. More than 3,400 plants were introduced and 200 pounds of wildflower seeds sown for the new pollinator sanctuaries the winery plans to open to the public on Earth Day next month.
