Approximate number of constant hours of warm rain, dew, or mist needed for Botrytis cinerea (Noble Rot) spores to begin to germinate. The spores form millions of conidiophores (structures) that release the fungus, which then lands on grapes. A fragile process, Botrytis is critical to many of the world’s great sweet wines, including Tokaji Aszú, Sauternes, Ausbruch, Sélection de Grains Nobles, and Trockenbeerenauslese.
