Approximate number of acres of cabernet sauvignon planted in Washington State—triple the amount just 10 years ago. Cabernet now makes up a quarter of the state’s total grape tonnage. (Three years ago in Washington, more riesling was harvested than cabernet).  Thanks to the state’s northern latitude, Washington cabernet gets 1 hour of sunlight more each day than cab in California.
