1925
The year Frank Meier, former head bartender at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, is said to have invented the mimosa, the cocktail combining Champagne and orange juice. It’s now a staple of the American brunch, not to mention morning weddings. And the origin of its name? The word comes from the Spanish adjective mimosa which means “enjoys being pampered.” Next Wednesday (the 16th) is National Mimosa Day.
