The year Godiva Chocolatier was founded and named after the legendary Lady Godiva (980-1067). As the story goes, Lady Godiva rode nude through the streets of Coventry, England, to oppose the heavy taxation her husband (Leofric, Earl of Mercia) imposed on the townspeople.
