Speed (in miles per hour) that a Champagne cork can achieve when it shoots out of a vigorously shaken bottle of Champagne, according to scientists at Germany’s Clausethal Technical University. The pressure inside a Champagne bottle is roughly three times greater than the pressure in a car tire. The scientists further demonstrated that a Champagne cork could theoretically reach 62 miles per hour if the bottle was not shaken but left in the sun before opening. Do not try measuring this yourself!
