Amount (in millions of U.S. dollars) that Napa Valley’s Heitz Wine Cellars recently paid for a 50-acre vineyard in Rutherford, in the heart of Napa Valley. That’s $500,000 an acre. Last year, the Heitz family sold Heitz Wine Cellars and its 400 acres of vineyards to Arkansas billionaire Gaylon Lawrence for $180 million. Lawrence bought the 50-acre vineyard, known as Wildwood, from giant Treasury Wine Estates.
