Current number of approved Cru Bourgeois châteaux in Bordeaux. Collectively, they produce about 33 million bottles (31% of the Médoc’s production). The Cru Bourgeois are estates that were not ranked in the 1855 Classification and they are known for making good quality, modestly priced Bordeaux wine. There are three levels: Cru Bourgeois, Cru Bourgeois Supérieur and Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel.
