This includes Champagne, Burgundy, the Loire Valley, Tokaji, and Piedmont, among many other historically and culturally significant wine regions. There are 1,052 World Heritage Sites worldwide. To be included, sites must meet major criteria; one of which is that the site represent “a masterpiece of human creative genius.”
