The 27 EU nations account for 45% of world wine growing areas, 65% of world wine production, and 70% of all wine exports. The EU provides financial support to member countries’ wine industries. From 2017 on, the biggest recipient was Italy, which received $400 million (€330 million) annually to improve vineyards and promote its wines.
