Number of years ago next week that the ground-breaking Judgement of Paris wine tasting first took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Paris.   The tasting, co-organized by the late Steven Spurrier and his colleague Patricia Gallagher, exploded the notion that California wines were inferior to French. The Judgement of Paris is now taken as the event that put California wine on the international map.
