Value (in U.S. dollars) of wine stolen on Christmas Day two years ago from chef Thomas Keller’s famed restaurant the French Laundry. The theft of 110 wine bottles– some of the world’s most sought-after and expensive wines– occurred a day after the restaurant had closed for a remodel. The stolen and re-sold bottles included several from Burgundy’s Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, as well as from Screaming Eagle in the Napa Valley. The thief, Davis Kiryakoz, pleaded guilty and is currently free on bail while awaiting sentencing, scheduled for March 28, 2017.
