The number of wine estates in France as of 2020—down from 70,000 ten years earlier. According to Meiningers Wine Business International, France has lost one in six wine estates over the last decade. In 2021, the average size of a French wine estate was 47 acres, a 7.5 acre increase from 2020. Wine estate size continues to increase every year as smaller family-run farms sell to larger companies
