Sum (in U.S.$ / RMB 5 million) that three land developers in China were forced to pay Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR), after being found in breach of Château Lafite’s trademarks. According to the People’s Court Daily, DBR discovered that “Château Lafite” (and its Chinese translation “拉斐水岸”) were being used to name residential properties in the country. After Chateau Lafite Rothschild entered the Chinese market in the 1990s, the word “Lafite” swiftly became a household name standing for luxury, class, and taste.
