Number of fake bottles of Penfolds recently discovered in China. Chinese police described the counterfeit operation as a “mega cross regional” wine production ring whose fake wines were worth $1.6 million. The counterfeit network was uncovered after a customer reported a suspicious “poor-tasting” Penfolds Bin 407 priced at $110. The wine generally costs at least $160 per bottle.
