Number of hours per day a California farmworker must work (or 50 hours per week) before being paid time-and-a-half, according to a new expansion of the state’s Agricultural Workers Act.  A 12-hour workday now warrants double time. With over and double time, farmworkers in some wine regions occasionally earned $30 to $40 an hour, but the work is both sporadic and grueling.
