Number of hospitality and tasting room jobs lost in the prestigious Western Cape region of South Africa as a result of the country’s four successive alcohol bans during the Covid pandemic. A fifth ban—which would be devastating for the South African wine industry—may be in the offing according to Drinks Business. In addition to jobs lost, the alcohol bans have cost the country $340 million in lost tax revenue so far.
