Percentage rate at which the polar ice caps are melting every decade, representing a climate crisis for mankind (not to mention Santa, polar bears, and other creatures). The earth is now losing 1.2 trillion tons of ice each year. Various segments of the wine industry have begun to act. In particular, the International Wineries for Climate Action, founded in 2019 by Spain’s Torres winery and the U.S.’s Jackson Family Wines, now includes 20 wineries worldwide. Among the groups’ goals: that winery members be carbon neutral by 2050.
