Number of unknown viruses found on subway systems around the world according to a new study published in the journal Cell. The study also uncovered more than 700 heretofore unknown bacteria. Undertaken by 900 scientists on six continents, the study was based on swabbing the turnstiles and other surfaces of 60 major subway systems around the world. Each city was found to have its own microbial makeup. What does this have to do with wine? Probably nothing, but as an ex-New Yorker, I just had to report this.
