“Karen, we are planning on visiting some Napa and Sonoma wineries next spring. I understand cannabis is now legal in California. Does that mean you can smoke pot at a winery?” — Tom S. (Boston, Massachusetts)
Tom, there are probably some people who wouldn’t mind a little pot along with their pinot, but it’s definitely against California law to consume cannabis at a winery. It’s also illegal to sell alcohol and cannabis on the same premises. But to your question: California’s Health and Safety Code Section 11362.3 forbids smoking or ingesting cannabis in any public place, which would include wineries.
