I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we learn about wine. And it seems to me that the best way to learn nothing about wine is to continue to drink what you already know you like. We—all of us—only learn by expanding our frames of reference. That said, I also get that we need our own “comfort wines”—wines we love, could drink every night, and look forward to after a long day. So maybe a ratio: for every 5 (?) glasses of a wine you know well, 1 (?) new adventure wine? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Write in at winespeed@karenmacneil.com.
