Smell Disorder

I just read a depressing fact in in Smithsonian magazine (“Sniffing Out the Science of Smelling;” October 2022): Over time, our sense of smell declines as cells lose their ability to regenerate and as cumulative environmental toxins begin to damage those cells. The decline apparently begins to fall off a cliff around age 50 (!), and according to the scientists quoted, by age 80, three out of four of us have what could clinically be classified as a smell disorder.
Hello baby boomers, there’s only one sane way to deal with this information: stop saving the great stuff; drink it all now!
