SNOWDEN Melchior Kemper Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2018

(Napa Valley, CA) $75

In 1955 the Snowden family bought a ranch in the eastern hills of the Napa Valley, and planted a small section of it with vines. Brothers Scott and Randy Snowden both became prominent lawyers and, on the side, established their small winery. Today, third generation Diana Snowden Seysses makes the wines and is also the enologist at Burgundy’s famous Domaine Dujac (she is married to co-ownerJeremy Seysses). The Snowden Cabernet Franc is impeccable—an elegant and lifted swirl of red plums, raspberry briars, woodland forest, camphor and spices. Both subtle and complex, it’s a vivid red wine with a bounce of freshness. Snowden Seysses says the wine “waits quietly for you to notice it,” but I suspect you’ll “notice it” right away!  (13.8% abv)
