Number of beehives that may have been destroyed in Florida by Hurricane Ian, according to the Florida State Beekeepers Association. The habitat destruction could have far-reaching consequences across the U.S., since Florida’s hives assist in pollinating diverse food crops all over the country. Charitable organizations have banded together to supply pollen and nectar as food for an estimated 1.7 billion beehive-less bees who survived.
